The National Pastime Theater presents Jose Rivera's References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot, directed by NPT's Keely Haddad-Null. Gabriela and Benito: a wife and her soldier. Time, distance and inevitable growth have scarred the hope of tomorrow and the reflection of yesterday. Nothing is in rhythm. They bounce off of each other, missing the mark again and again. War, violence become the norm.
A chess games pawn stands alone inside Two Pieces of Bread Expressing the Sentiment of Love (Salvador Dali, 1940) . Isolated, alienated, surreal-so real...The sobbing of of a child’s first lost love/people fighting like animals/animals fighting like people. Love like nothing else and like nothing at all. Raw...naked...awake. Come howl with the Moon as the Coyote screws the Cat. Experience References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot... Only at The National Pastime Theater....like nothing you've ever seen.
Playwright: José Rivera is the two-time Obie Award winning author of Marisol, Cloud Tectonics, References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot, Boleros for the Disenchanted, and many other plays.
